Some of them are pretty obvious, but still some people do them while playing poker and they will cost you money if you are one of them.
Drinking: Usually a poker game is depicted with people drinking whiskey and smoking cigars. Drinking may be fun in a lot of situations, but not when playing online poker. To play poker your mind must be working at 100% and when you drink your mind is not working properly (that was the big idea of drinking). Drinking leads us to make stupid things which are funny, but losing money is not funny at all. If you want to drink, do it after you play poker, either to celebrate your wins or to forget your losses, but not in the meanwhile!!
Taking drugs: Ok, you should not take drugs at any time because they are illegal and (insert legal disclaimer here) but if you like taking drugs, do not do it while you are playing poker. Drugs are expensive enough themselves without the fact of making us to losing money at the tables.
Eating: Sometimes we are hungry but eating while playing poker is not hygienic. We touch the food with our hands and then our hands go to the mouse which is full of shit and then back to our mouths. This should be enough reason for you to avoid eating while playing poker but besides that you are exposed to a bad beat every time you are playing online poker and if it occurs while you are eating you are at risk of choking. Spitting food to your keyboard or screen is very gross… keep your food away from the computer.
Having sex: If you haven’t tried oral sex while you are playing poker, you should do it because it is exciting, but do it on very low stakes because you are going to lose. If you are playing at high levels keep your partner away from you because sexual excitement is not compatible with playing online poker. The fact of being excited makes us to play more aggressively and as mentioned before (and as it is pretty obvious) having sex while you play poker is very distracting. If you feel the urge of having sex while you are playing poker, go and have it and then come back to the tables.
Chatting: It is a common practice to leave your IM open while you are playing poker, but being bothered while doing so is not good for our pockets. Anything distracting should be kept away from our sight, and IM’s are a very distracting thing. Forget about your buddies while you are playing poker and you will get better results.
I make good profit from poker, I do it because I enjoy it, the startegy, and the chess match that is poker. Whenever I play I try to go onto because I feel it helps my play and helps me be more relaxed and follow my intuition
Don’t Play Drunk
Countless nights have I sat across a table from someone & watched them get silly and throw away their entire stack of chips. I’ve been that person too – and there are nights where you’re just playing with friends for low stakes and it’s more about the fun than the poker – but if you’re in a casino, watch the alcohol. The truth is, while you may be more relaxed after 2 drinks, it may lead to you playing looser and less sharply, even if one’s not ‘drunk.’
Drinking and drugs both have the ability to not only lower ones inhibitions but to also make people feel invincible, not a good feeling to have when playing poker, could lead to some very unwise bets.
I really enjoy playing poker, but I can safely say that I don’t love it enough to let it distract me during sex, I can’t play poker and have sex at the same time, I’d much rather focus on the sex.
LOL… getting a BJ whilst your online hah…Drinking is my biggest sin in playing live poker and when I play online its more like checking my emails, watching a movie that gets in the way.
