Terms You Must Know to Play Poker A to B

To properly understand online poker you need to know the terms frequently used in games. The following is a list of the terms from A to B.

A

Aces up: It is the hand where the player is holding two pairs and one of them is a pair of aces, being the other card of any rank.
Action: The act of betting, raising, folding, calling or checking. This is the option that the player decides to apply to a determined situation.
Ante: A fixed fee that must be paid in order to be dealt cards and play the round. The ante must be paid by all players in the table, not only by the blinds.
All blue: A flush containing all spades or clubs, it has no value at most poker games.
All in: The action when a player bets all his remaining chips on the table.
All pink: A flush containing all diamonds and hearts, it has no value at most poker games.

B

Back Door: It is when you are drawing for a hand, but there is another complementary hand you can hit with fewer odds than the main one.
Bad Beat: When a losing hand beats a hand with much more odds. This is the typical story of poker… good player beaten by a lucky donk.
Bet: The action where a player puts money into the pot.
Blank: A card which doesn’t help to your hand, useless card.
Blind: An amount of money placed by two players. This is a forced bet and other players can call or raise it. Usually it is a big blind with the full amount of money and a small blind with half the money bet by the big blind.
Bluff: A typical action when a player bets an amount of money without having a good hand hoping the rest of players will fold to his bet.
Board: It can be either the poker table where you are playing or the set of community cards placed face-up on it.
Bottom Pair: Means having a pair of the lowest rank cards shown on the flop.
Bull: It is another name given to a maniac player. Player who raises often or plays very aggressively.
Button: It is a marker to show who is the dealer. In online poker this is the nominal dealer as cards are dealt by a computer. There are also the big blinds and small blinds buttons to show who is acting as the big blind and small blind player.
Buy: (1) The action by which a player bluffs with the hopes to “buy” the pot by not being called and forcing all other players to leave the table. (2) The action by which a player calls a bet with hopes of getting a good hand in the next card, this is calling in order to draw. (3) To fold when a player has placed a high bet, this is to believe that a player has a high hand.
