For any of you avid poker players that think you may be missing out on something when you are playing online poker you may be right. Here are some of the things you may be passing up.
The Organized Deck
How about when you arrive at the poker game and its all set up to go. The cards are stacked neatly on the table ready for action. Here’s the play. A player is going to hit a big hand right from the start. Lady luck is on his side tonight. Then right at the end he is outdrawn. The adrenalin flows and the other players bet large. How did this happen? Simple the cheat stacked the cards prior to everyone getting them and he started off as the dealer. Geeze, and you missed being cheated cause you were online playing poker.
Sneak Peek
Here the dealer takes a peek at the top card inconspicuously of course. This is enough information to allow him to determine who is going to win the hand. If he’s really good then he can maneuver it so he gets that particular card.
Now look what you were missing out on while you were winning that last hand when you were playing your on line poker.
Going To The Bottom
Here the dealer can put the card he wants at the bottom of the deck, then when he deals his card guess where it comes from? You got it, the bottom of the deck.
Guess you are going to be the loser of this hand being as you are still at your online gambling site.
Okay you have got to be thinking that only dummies would fall for this right? Well then there must be a whole bunch of poker dummies out there because there have been tons of cheated people throughout the years.
There goes the money
How about those slight of hand maneuvers where the cheater slips a few chips out of the pot. But then what’s a few chips among friends right? It can add up to a tidy little sum by the end of the night for the cheater.
Its not your problem though you just need to look at the bottom of your screen to see exactly what your chip count is at.
Gosh you missed out on all the cheating again because you were at the online casino.
This is not to insinuate for one moment that on land poker is all crooked. There are tons of great up and up poker games constantly on the go. We’re just saying that by playing poker online you have reduced the odds a little. Hey! Isn’t that what the game is all about?? Reducing the odds??
The whole point here is to have good honest fun. It can’t get any better than to do so from the comfort of your own home. Besides if you want to learn how to add even more excitement to your online poker then check out our post Faces at Poker.
Lol I agree with everything that is said here. I have had a fair few of my friends give me grief about playing online poker instead of what they refer to as the “real poker” in the brick and mortar casinos. Well i have alot less to lose in online poker and heaps more to gain than what i do when playing in a brick and mortar casino. It’s convienient, safe and much more fun for me. Heaps of dealers are masters when it comes to slight of hand, they are so skilled at it that no one ever really notices what they are doing because they are very quick at it and usually find some kind of way to distract you whilst they are doing it too. Very sneaky!
The other things you miss out on by playing online poker:
1- Drunken idiots putting you off your game (unless you are playing at a party in which case this will probably still occur)
2- Pretty flashing and neon lights causing you to not only be distracted but to also lose track of time with so much bright lighting causing night to look like day
3- Having to get all dressed up to sit around and play your favourite game
4- Table “stalkers” I don’t know if you have ever experieced this but i refer to the people who follow you from table to table, not playing but just observing your game playing techniques from a slight distance, as table stalkers, they watch you for ages and then finally play you after quite a considerable amount of time watching you and if you haven’t been aware of their presence then they will usually beat you, where as if you have seen them whilst you were playing then you simply just have to change your game play up a little to put them off
and last but not least number 5- People following you around once you have had a win!
hmm Honestly i had never even thought about or given any consideration to any of these aspects of playing in a brick and mortar casino until i actually read this article so thanks i don’t think that i will be stepping foot back inside a casino to play poker again any time soon, i think that it is about time i got with the times and started to play online poker instead, seems to be a much safer way to go, damm those dodgy dealers, sneaky indeed.
