Every sport, every entertainment venue and practically every industry that you can think of all have their “greats”. Those few individuals who were found in each of these that just went above the norm and excelled to the point of fame within its category.
Poker has its share of “greats” as well. Some of them are not just known to avid poker players but to non players as well. Just because someone doesn’t play poker doesn’t mean that they don’t know how to appreciate fine performance and excellent skills.
Every online poker site there is today would certainly show their respect to each and every one of the top notch Poker players that have made this game what it is today. Once has to wonder if it was not for the popularity that these individuals brought to Poker would it be as dynamic as what it is today?
Needless to say that the Professional Poker players that have made it to the top are pretty aggressive. They have no problem taking chances with their money. It’s the all or nothing type attitude that got many of these Pros where they are. Some are rich and some are bankrupt.
Aside from watching these poker wizards play its intriguing to do be privy to their side bets. These are just little added extras where the players will make a bet on the side as to what’s going to happen. You might call it an extra thrill. Now do these side bets always refer to poker outcomes? Nope. In fact, one of the most famous side bets took place between Howard Lederer and David Grey. All Lederer had to do was eat a cheeseburger and pocket the $10,000. bet. Now there is a little more to it than that. Howard went to being a veggie eater after having a gastric bypass. David was avid that no matter what, Howard wouldn’t put his mouth near a cheeseburger. So he placed a bet of $10,000 that this is true. He ended up being $10,000. lighter though as Lederer consumed the cheeseburger.
So just how far will the betting spirit of these Pros go? Just where is it time to draw the line? That may be a question best posed to Ted Forrest who won a $7,000 bet to run a marathon. This $7,000. cost him a trip to the Hospital with injuries to his feet. This was as a result of the pavement being so hot that he was running on he literally burned the soles of his feet.
For the most part though these bets are fun bets that although costly are harmless. Although one wonders if it was a wise decision of Lederer to consume the burger after having gastric bypass surgery and going on a veggie diet. The same holds true for Forrest. Perhaps it would have been a lot less painful if he had quit as soon as he felt the pain.
So do these guys no when to hold em? and when to fold em? It makes you wonder doesn’t it.

Maybe they did those side bets not because of lack of knowledge when to fold em but instead to somewhat prove themselves? Maybe they had that attitude that they’ve started the side bet and they can’t stop now. It is funny though.
wow that is absoulutely unreal! I’d glady take $10,000 for eating a cheeseburger anyday and I would do the marathon too but i’d wear to avoid that same problem. Maybe they really do know when to hold em and fold em considering they can afford to make bets like that.
I wish someone would pay me that amount of money to eat a hamburger, I’d gladly eat twenty or so a day, I could handle getting $200,000 a day for eating that’s for sure. these players really know what they are doing when it comes to playing poker though, that’ why they can afford to make those kinds of bets and that’s why we know who they are when someone mentions their names.
I really wish that I had enough money to make bets like the ones described in this article purely for entertainment purposes. I give these players credit, they have gotten their popularity from their skills in the game of poker, they are great at what they do and if I was them and I had that kind of money I would probably do the same thing.
